  • GED. Waste of Time or A Second Chance?

                                       GED

Just weeks away from my friend's GED test, she stared getting cold feet. She has all these doubts that she will never get anywhere in life because of a "worthless" diploma. Crying and scared, my friend is thinking of backing out of the test and just stay at home. She said me; "If GEDs weren't looked down like something lower than dirt then I wouldn't have a problem." I tried and still trying my best to get her to understand that having a GED is something to be very proud of, it's a ticket to your bright future. My friend is very smart, wants to someday work at NASA and have a family. She has higher goals than me but is scared to try because she thinks it's pointless. I'm trying to help but I don't know what to do, three months of studying for a test that she may not even take and on top of that I heard that the test isn't that hard.

What can I do? How do I encourage her?

  • Thanksgiving holiday

How was your holiday weekend? I wanted to spend mine with my family but I had lost my passport (again) and didn't have enough time to have another made for me. But my lost did not stop me from spending Thanksgiving,  my boyfriend and new friends were with me. Did you go Black Friday shopping? I went but when I got to the mall all the good deals where long gone, I guess it's ture when they said "The Really Really Early Bird Catches The Worm" I went home empty handed needless to say.

During my holiday break I watch two emotional movies on LifeTime TV...

              Odd Girl Out:

                                  Odd girl out

"Bullies don't have to be big, tough boys. In fact, often, they're not boys at all. The movie follows a put-upon middle schooler who struggles to dodge blows from her backstabbing peers. The fact that the abuse is emotional and not physical doesn't make it any less painful."

A Girl Like Me: The Gwen Araujo Story

                             A girl like me

"Based on a true story. As a young boy, Eddie Araujo always felt different somehow. She started putting on her mom's makeup and wearing her mom's clothes, which her mom found odd. By the time she entered her teen years, Eddie could no longer hide the fact that she was a lot different, that she was meant to be female and not male. When she finally accepted it and with her mom's eventual support, Eddie changed her name to Gwen and started to live life as female until a tragic night changed everything."

(I couldn't find the trailer for "A Girl Like Me" but you can watch both movies on YouTube.)

                     ACAC PSPAC II

A while back I made a promise not to buy any video games for the rest of the year a while ago.... I broke down and brought the Assassin's Creed series.... so weak....... but in my defense, they are great games!

  • Still keeping it simple

                                 Simple

An update on what skin care products I'm using, the key is keeping it simple.

                       St. IvesOlayNeutrogena

(Products are in order from left to right)

In the morning and Afternoon, I using only two products, Olay Face Wash and Neutrogena Anti-Wrinkle Cream SPF 15 and once a week my St.Ives Apricot Scrub

                                OlayTretinoin

When it's time for bed, I use my Olay Face Wash and my prescription of Retinol to prevent acne, I have a generic brand called Tretinoin Cream 0.1%.

                          z205474295

I tend to change my face wash product alot but I am loving Olay face wash, It's just a simple basic face wash. The retinol cream is to prevent acne but also prevents wrinkles and age spots. Neutrogena anti-wrinkle cream is my daily moisturizer, should I ever forget to wear sunblock it has SPF 15. My St.Ives Apricot Scrub is the best scrub out there, cheap and effective.

Oh yes, not to forget my favorite sunscreen. Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 45 is perfect for me, always wear sunblock to keep skin cancer away. Reapply every 2-3 hours.

                                                    Sunblock

                                                                                                                      Take care, Maya

  • Hoilday season = Breakouts and music video

Pale bule   Tis the season for happiness, laughter, and breakouts. I seem to breakout alot around this time of year. Novemember and December are the worst months, I breakout around my nose and forehead. It happens every year and for all those years I never did anything to stop and prevent. But this year I plan on doing something. I've heard and read mix reviews on "BiorĂ© Deep Cleansing Pore Strips" and was thinking about giving them a try. But I read you can get broken capillaries from using pore strips.... bummer.

Music  I was reading that Hikaru Utada sang a song for a young girl who was one of the victims in a school stabbing. I was listening to the song just awhile ago, it's so beautiful....

  • Food, Inc.

"Director Robert Kenner's documentary explores the food industry's detrimental effects on our health and environment. Kenner spotlights the men and women who are working to reform an industry rife with monopolies, questionable interpretations of laws and subsidies, political ties and rising rates of E. coli outbreaks."

    nmsmcbfnmsmcbfnmsmcbf

This is the best documentary I've seen in a long time. After watching this, it was like a blindfold was removed from my eyes and I was able to see for the first time. This film takes you back not to the kitchen but to the so called "farm lands" where all our food in made. There are interviews with farmers that will make you ask "are they really farmers?". Corn that can be made into many many things that you wouldn't even think had that ingredient. We can finally learn the truth about our meats (pork, beef and chicken). See the conditions of the animals before they are brought to your dinner table. Now I know what's really going on with the foods I buy at the grocery market. The film will make you think twice about the foods you were buying and help you make better and healthier choices in the future. All I can say is wow...

This film is NOT for the faint of heart.

The film is set to be release on DVD on November 03, 2009. This is a MUST see.
